overclocks like crazy, It's so easy to get this thing to 4ghz without changing the voltage at all. Just set FSB to 400mhz. It doesn't start getting hot at all till you go over that. I have mine at 4.5ghz (450x10 1.41volts)) and it idles under 38C, and stress tests max 65C on air. (Zalman 9700 in an Antec 900 case).
Vista 64 is snappy and games play real smooth. Load times for everything are quick.
Fast, Stable & Solid Performance, (What's this?) Before buying the E8600 processor, I was torn between the E8400 (3.0Ghz), E8500 (3.16 Ghz) & E8600 (3.33 Ghz) processors. The 8600 is priced considerably higher than the 8400 and 8500 for only a minor boost in speed. Either processor will provide oustanding performance. In my case, I own a 680i SLI board that is not compatible with Yorkfield Quad Core processors. This Wolfdale 8600 is truly the maximum baseline performance processor that I can put into my system, so I felt I should go with the higher 3.33 Ghz for more "stable" overclocking potential.
** Overclocking is generally not recommended due to the potential to damage the components; Safe overclocking is possible with the right hardware, the right expertise, the right voltages, the right cooling and the right guidance **
If you do not overclock your PC, then the E8500 or E8400 will give you the most bang for your buck.

1333MHz LGA775 Desktop Processor.Intel Core 2 Duo. With two computing cores, you'll experience great performance. Intel's Intelligent Power Capability ensures optimal energy efficiency. Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Processor features: Two computing cores running at 3.33 GHz. 6 MB of L2 cache. 1333 MHz front side bus. Advanced technologies for better energy efficiency. Two Cores on One Chip Deliver Increased Processor Performance By using two processing cores, the E8600 can deliver higher performance with greater energy efficiency than older single-core processors. The E8600 brings robust performance for both home and business software applications, and users will be able to run more applications simultaneously with less stuttering and slowdown. Everything including email, downloading, online shopping, and video editing can be done simultaneously and with greater efficiency. No longer is it necessary to choose between work and play--with the E8600 you have it both ways at the same time. New Technologies Provide Higher Performance and Better Energy Efficiency By using hafnium, a naturally occurring element, Intel engineers were able to shrink the size of new Intel processors and pack more computing technology into less space. The processor also features Intel's Intelligent Power Capability, which allows it to turn off parts of itself when it isn't in use. The result is improved performance with less energy wastage and a reduction of heat and noise, making the processor easier on your wallet and easier on the environment. The Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 brings two computing cores running at 3.33 GHz onto a single processor, giving mainstream users that extra horsepower to ensure that their computing experience won't slow down even when running multiple applications simultaneously. The processor uses the LGA775 socket for compatibility with many motherboards and features 6 MB of L2 cache and a 1333 MHz front side bus. Intel has packed the Core 2 Duo E8600 with cutting-edge technologies for better performance. Wide Dynamic Execution allows the processor to do more tasks simultaneously by enabling the delivery of more instructions per clock cycle, while Advanced Smart Cache technology improves performance by physically placing data closer to the processing cores.
